The EU Satellite Centre (SatCen) invites university students to join the CHIME internship at ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands. You will work with system engineering and mission-performance teams on end-to-end simulation and uncertainty propagation for hyperspectral data products.

You will develop a simulation and prototype processing algorithm, assess sensitivity to noise and misregistration, and document potential spatial improvements for imaging spectrometer CHIME.

Qualificações

• You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a Master’s program.
• You must be enrolled at your university for the entire duration of the internship.
• Working languages are English and French; good knowledge of one is required.
• Knowledge of another ESA Member State language is an asset.
• Background in physics, applied mathematics, Earth observation, signal processing or aerospace engineering.
• Experience with Python, numerical modelling and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with uncertainty propagation, sensitivity analysis or imaging spectroscopy is an asset.

Responsabilidades

• Review the CHIME spatial enhancement topic and baseline performance.
• Develop a simulation and prototype processing algorithm.
• Evaluate sensitivity to noise, misregistration, and spectral differences.
• Quantify spatial improvement and document limitations.
• Test methods using representative mission scenarios and discuss results with scientists and simulator teams.
