Job summary

Constrive is seeking a Finance Operations internship in the Netherlands. You will own recurring processes, assist monthly closure, and help streamline workflows. Work closely with the Finance Operations Manager / Controller to learn how a finance function operates day-to-day in a dynamic group.

You will gain hands-on experience in transactional operations, reconciliation, reporting, and process improvement, with real ownership and potential for a full-time offer after strong performance.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, with an internship as part of curriculum.
• Solid grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, and the three financial statements.
• Strong Excel skills: lookups, pivot tables, and clean data structuring.
• Clear written and spoken English; Dutch is a plus.
• Eligible to complete an internship in the Netherlands for the full duration.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and code to the correct GL account and cost center.
• Assist with RMA processes and support accounts receivable, including invoicing and overdue follow-ups.
• Maintain vendor and customer master data with complete records.
• Perform bank, credit card, and payment-provider reconciliations and assist month-end close.
• Build recurring reports (cash position, AP/AR aging) and analyze variances.
• Document existing processes and test ERP/tooling improvements.

Compensation: €500 per month + travel allowance up to €200

About the role

Finance Operations keeps the money moving accurately and on time — invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and the reporting that the rest of the business relies on. As an intern on the team, you'll take real ownership of recurring processes, support the monthly closure, and help us make our workflows faster and less manual. You'll finish the internship knowing how a finance function actually runs day to day, not just in theory.

Core tasks and responsibilities

Transactional operations

• Process supplier invoices: verify against purchase orders, code to the correct GL account and cost center, route for approval
• Assist with handling RMA-process and support accounts receivable, including invoicing customers and following up on overdue balances
• Maintain vendor and customer master data, keeping records complete and accurate

Reconciliation and month-end close

• Perform bank, credit card, and payment-provider reconciliations
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support schedules for accruals and prepayments
• Assist with month-end close tasks under the guidance of the Finance team
• Help gather documentation for audits and internal control reviews

Reporting and analysis

• Build and maintain recurring reports (cash position, AP/AR aging, spend by category)
• Support budget-versus-actual analysis and investigate variances
• Prepare ad hoc analyses for the finance team and other departments

Process improvement

• Document existing processes and identify manual steps that can be automated or simplified
• Help test and roll out improvements in the ERP or finance tooling
• Contribute to keeping process documentation current

Required qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, with an internship as part of your curriculum
• Solid grasp of core accounting concepts (double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, the three financial statements)
• Strong Excel skills: comfortable with lookups, pivot tables, and structuring data cleanly
• Accurate and detail-oriented, with the discipline to reconcile to the cent
• Able to work independently on recurring tasks and flag issues early rather than sit on them
• Clear written and spoken communication in English, Dutch is a plus
• Eligible to complete an internship in the Netherlands for the full duration

Nice to have

• Prior internship or part-time experience in finance, accounting, or a back-office role
• Exposure to an ERP or accounting system (NetSuite, SAP, Exact, Xero, QuickBooks)
• Familiarity with SQL, Power BI/Tableau, or scripting for data work
• Interest in process automation and finance tooling
