Job summary

Siemens is offering an Information Security Officer Intern position within the Mendix R&D team. You will dive into information security governance, risk management, and compliance within a global tech company, gaining practical experience and mentoring from seasoned professionals.

You'll contribute to risk assessments, incident response documentation, audits, and awareness initiatives while developing your knowledge of PCIDSS and ISO/IEC standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in information security.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Information Security Risk Assessments and prepare status and risk reports for the CISO.
• Support Security Incident Response documentation and escalation procedures.
• Monitor and analyze security alerts and guide relevant teams on remediation.
• Assist with Compliance Monitoring to ensure information security standards are met.
• Participate in audits by contributing to preparation and execution phases.
• Promote Security Awareness and act as a point of contact for security policies.

We are seeking an Information Security Officer (ISO) Intern to join our Product & Technology department, specifically supporting our Mendix R&D team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into information security compliance, risk management, and governance within a dynamic and innovative global technology company.

As an ISO Intern, you'll be an integral part of our team, contributing to real‑world security initiatives that directly impact our products and customers. You'll gain practical experience, expand your professional network, and get a taste of what it's like to work at Siemens, particularly within the Mendix R&D environment. You'll learn from experienced professionals and contribute to ensuring our systems are secure and compliant.

What You'll Do:

• Support Information Security Risk Assessments: Assist in performing risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and suggesting appropriate risk treatments. You'll help in preparing status and risk reports for the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
• Contribute to Security Incident Response: Learn about and support the documentation and distribution of security incident responses and escalation procedures.
• Monitor and Analyze Security Alerts: Work alongside the team to monitor and analyze security alerts, helping to identify issues and instructing relevant teams on how to resolve them.
• Assist with Compliance Monitoring: Support continuous control of compliance, ensuring that information security standards are met and helping to steer efforts when compliance gaps are identified.
• Participate in Audits: Gain exposure to internal and external audits by contributing to the preparation and execution phases.
• Promote Security Awareness: Help implement and support awareness programs for information security within the organization, acting as a point of contact for security policies and procedures.
• Continuous Learning and Development: Actively learn and improve your knowledge in information security, keeping up‑to‑date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

What You'll Bring:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field at an accredited institution.
• Strong academic record, with a demonstrated interest in information security.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• A proactive attitude, eager to learn and take initiative in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with or a strong desire to learn about control frameworks like PCIDSS and ISO/IEC 27001/27002.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Previous coursework or projects related to information security, network security, or data privacy.
• Any relevant certifications or participation in cybersecurity‑related clubs or activities.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) or basic understanding of IT infrastructure.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is €200 monthly, and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
