Hydrographic Support Engineer - Office + International Travel

Job summary

QPS, based in Zeist, Netherlands, is seeking a Medior Support Engineer to combine hydrographic know-how with technical troubleshooting to support customers worldwide from an office-based role in Zeist.

You will triage 2nd-line cases, conduct on-site consultancy occasionally, train customers, and collaborate with product teams to improve workflows, with frequent travel and a focus on delivering reliable maritime software services.

Qualifications

• A background or formal education in hydrography, ocean mapping, or the offshore survey industry.
• Hands-on experience with QPS software, or with complementary marine software/hardware (e.g. Kongsberg, Applanix, Norbit, iXblue).
• 2–3+ years of relevant experience in hydrographic operations, survey data processing, or technical customer support.
• A proactive, empathetic problem-solver’s mindset, one that reads a client’s context, urgency, and operational pressure, not just the ticket.
• A quick learner, curious and humble enough to keep improving how you and the team work.
• Strong conflict resolution skills and a real sense of responsibility, seeing a customer issue through until it’s truly resolved.
• Fluent Dutch and excellent written and spoken English, plus active listening that actually gets to the root of an issue.
• Willingness to travel internationally for on-site consultancy and training assignments, from short day visits to engagements of a few weeks.
• You’re based in (or happy to commute to) Zeist, the Netherlands 2days/week.
