Job summary

Magno IT Recruitment is seeking a (Senior) Data Science Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of up to 10 data scientists delivering AI-powered solutions for scientific and enterprise applications. The role blends people leadership (60%) with technical oversight (40%), and involves defining priorities, mentoring team members and ensuring robust data science practices.

You can work in Amsterdam or London with 1–2 days on site. Residents of NL or the UK at application time are eligible.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in CS/DS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years leading or managing technical teams.
• At least 5 years in data science: ML, NLP, information retrieval, or AI solution development.
• Experience with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
• Hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, RAG, evaluation methods, and data annotation workflows.
• Familiarity with AI tooling ecosystems and vector search technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of data scientists delivering AI-powered solutions.
• Define objectives, priorities, and delivery plans aligned with strategy.
• Mentor team members and establish best practices for experimentation and development.
• Collaborate with product leaders, engineers, and stakeholders to drive production-ready AI.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for model performance and user impact.
• Champion responsible AI, transparency, privacy, and governance.
