The HR Generalist is a key player in the daily operations of the People + Culture department. This role involves managing various people operations initiatives and projects, and ensuring exceptional employee experiences. The HR Generalist is a trusted partner and reliable resource for both managers and employees, promoting a fair and inclusive workplace culture. Due to the sensitive nature of employee information, maintaining discretion and confidentiality is crucial for anyone working in the People + Culture department.
What you do:
As an HR Generalist, you are responsible for all people operations and employee relations for a designated group of departments. You ensure that policies, processes, and programs align with the agency culture and goals. It is crucial you maintain and continually develop effective working relationships with managers and employees. As a key member of the People Team, you encourage employee well-being, celebrate diversity, promote fairness and foster a sense of belonging. By expertly balancing empathy and a results-driven mindset, you consistently deliver impactful people-focused solutions that benefit both employees and the agency as a whole. Next to day-to-day operations, you lead initiatives that strengthen our agency’s culture and promote fairness, accessibility and sense of belonging.
People Operations:
- Manage employee relations, handling complex cases with a balanced and strategic approach.
- Oversee People team policies and compliance, ensuring best practices in labor and immigration laws and workplace regulations.
- Collaborate on compensation and benefits initiatives, ensuring competitive and fair reward structures.
- Ensure accurate compensation and benefits administration for monthly payroll.
- Share your knowledge of Wieden+Kennedy policies and guidelines with managers and employees.
- Maintain accurate employee records, and manage databases and systems.
- Ensure timely processing of HR-related documentation like contracts and visa renewals.
Employee Experience:
- Shaping and managing People initiatives that enhance employee experience, drive engagement, and support agency objectives.
- Lead performance management processes, providing coaching and training to managers.
- Partner with L&D team to ensure impactful training for a designated group of departments.
- Manage onboarding, relocations and transitions, ensuring a seamless employee experience across the employee journey.
- Ensure timely processing of leave requests and advise on leave policies.
- Support employee wellbeing and provide coaching for managers regarding mental health and wellbeing.
- Gather and analyze data relevant to Employee Experience and provide insights.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging:
- Partner with Head of People in developing and implementing DEI strategies and programs that promote a diverse, fair and inclusive workplace.
- Conduct audits of policies and practices to identify and address any potential biases or barriers to inclusion.
- Partner with L&D team to design and deliver training and resources to employees and managers on various DEI topics, such as unconscious bias, cultural competence, and inclusive leadership.
- Conduct regular pay equity analyses to identify and address any pay disparities.
- Actively support and engage with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to provide resources, guidance, and opportunities for networking and professional development.
- Collect and analyze DEI metrics, such as employee demographics, representation in leadership, and employee engagement surveys, to track progress, highlighting successes, challenges, and future plans.
We expect you to be:
- An HR professional with around 5+ years of People Operations/HR experience
- Knowledgeable in HR policies, Dutch labor and immigration laws, and compliance best practices.
- Experienced in performance management, employee relations, and enhancing employee engagement.
- A trusted partner with a hands-on approach, comfortable working both on strategy and daily HR operations.
- Passionate about culture-building and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).
- A persuasive communicator who builds relationships and influences decisions.
- Able to manage your workload autonomously and effectively.
- Team player with a curious mindset and driven to see initiatives through to completion.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting to provide reliable insights to the team and agency, and possesses excellent communication skills.
- Embracing a growth mindset and learning from failures.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Curious about new developments in Employee Experience, DEIB, hybrid working and technological developments like AI and data-driven HR tools.
