Job summary

Selby Jennings in Amsterdam seeks an experienced Senior HPC Systems Engineer to join its infrastructure team. You will build, support and optimise HPC environments that power research, simulation and trading workloads, collaborating with research, engineering and IT to keep systems reliable and performant.

This hands-on role covers Linux, networking, storage, and automation in a performance-critical setting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Linux systems engineering, HPC administration or related infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux or CentOS.
  • Experience operating HPC clusters in production environments.
  • Knowledge of workload schedulers such as SLURM, Moab or Torque.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Salt or xCAT.
  • Understanding of high-speed networking technologies, including InfiniBand and low-latency Ethernet environments.
  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms and parallel file systems such as Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale, Weka, VAST, NetApp or DDN.
  • Ability to write and maintain Python scripts for automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting across operating systems, networking, storage and distributed infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple technical teams.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to deliver infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes and platform improvements.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and technology partners on infrastructure projects and support activities.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of future HPC and research computing initiatives.

Senior HPC Systems Engineer

Amsterdam, Netherlands

A leading quantitative trading and technology firm is looking for an experienced HPC Systems Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Amsterdam.

The role focuses on building, supporting and optimising the high-performance computing environments that power research, simulation and trading workloads. You will work alongside infrastructure, research and engineering teams to ensure systems remain reliable, scalable and highly performant.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges across Linux, networking, storage and automation in a performance-critical environment.
