Job summary

Zineps, Amsterdam-based, is seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering to set the technical direction, grow the team, and stay active in code. You will own architecture, quality, and scalability while collaborating closely with the founders.

You’ll divide your time among leadership, strategy, and coding, especially building scalable backend systems with C# / .NET, Azure, and a modern event-driven stack. This role offers high ownership, minimal bureaucracy, and global impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer in lead/senior roles.
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to shape an engineering organization.
• Proven track record in building scalable backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for Zineps.
• Design and build scalable software yourself using C# / .NET.
• Develop our event-driven architecture with Azure Functions, Service Bus, and messaging.
• Help build an AI-first platform where autonomous agents and automation are core.
• Build, hire, and grow the engineering team.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and guidance.
• Mentor developers and help them grow.
• Research and introduce new technologies when appropriate.
• Collaborate with Product to shape functional and technical decisions.
• Shape the engineering culture at Zineps.

Your Role

You are a builder and a leader.

You set the technical direction of Zineps, build and grow the engineering team, and stay hands-on in the codebase. You set the standard—technically and culturally—and you own the architecture, quality, and scalability of the platform.

You'll have the freedom and ownership to make technical decisions that will have a lasting impact, working in close collaboration with the founders.

Your time will roughly be divided into:

• 15% Team leadership, coaching & hiring
• 15% Product & engineering strategy

What You'll Do

• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for Zineps
• Design and build scalable software yourself using C# / .NET
• Further develop our event-driven architecture using Azure Functions, Service Bus, and messaging
• Help build an AI-first platform where autonomous agents and automation are at the core
• Build, hire, and grow the engineering team
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and technical guidance
• Mentor developers and help them grow
• Research and introduce new technologies where appropriate
• Work closely with Product to shape both functional and technical decisions
• Shape the engineering culture at Zineps

Who You Are

You have 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, including time in a lead, senior, or leadership role. You thrive in an environment where speed, ownership, and quality go hand in hand, and you want to shape an engineering organization from the ground up.

You also have:

• Strong knowledge of C# / .NET
• Experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience building scalable backend systems
• Solid SQL Server knowledge
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience leading, coaching, or growing developers
• Frontend affinity (Blazor, React, or similar) is a plus
• A strong sense of ownership and responsibility
• The ability to think beyond code and focus on product impact
• A builder's mindset—you don't have a 9-to-5 mentality
