Job summary

Taylor Root is partnering with The Ocean Cleanup to recruit a Legal Operations Lead – AI & Innovation. This role builds the operational backbone of the Legal Department, combining legal expertise with technology-enabled workflows.

Based in the Netherlands, you will design intake, matter management, and KPI reporting, while supporting contracts and cross-functional governance. You will lead adoption of AI tools to improve efficiency and scale legal services for a global mission.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in legal operations or related roles.
• Proven experience implementing AI and automation in legal workflows.
• Proven systems-builder who designed scalable operational processes.
• Experience with legal tech platforms (contract/matter management, e-signature, knowledge management, reporting).
• Excellent English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and build the Legal Operations function end-to-end.
• Design and implement intake, matter management, and reporting systems.
• Embed technology, AI, and automation across legal workflows.
• Develop KPI dashboards aligned with objectives.
• Coordinate cross-functional workflows with compliance, governance, deployment, and operations.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, including budgeting and performance.
• Support OKR tracking and governance processes.
• Supervise the Legal Working Student.
• Lead legal innovation through technology and AI.
