Job description

As a Head of Finance, your primary mission is to lead X to the next growth stage. This means expanding to countries outside the EU. To get there, you will help improve tax and legal processes, investigate setting up local entities and treasury. You are fully responsible for all finance functions and financial reporting. You’ll be reporting to the company founders.

About the role and team

As a Head of Finance, you will manage the Finance team, currently consisting of 3 employees based in Groningen. Our goal is to implement scalable processes to help X grow while having efficient and effective controls and being ready for new countries that the company is expanding to. The Finance team is currently focusing on accounting and various projects to scale processes. We love to welcome someone who can lead the team and coordinate the tasks to achieve our goals. As a Head of Finance, you help shape and stir the strategic financial direction of the company.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Finance team
• Improve financial processes for scalability and audit readiness
• Improve month-end procedures and guide the team in this
• Report accurately and timely on a monthly basis (cash flow, P&L, budget versus actuals, KPI’s)
• Treasury management
• Advise the management team and help the company grow
• Support international expansion (setting up new entities and administration)
• Ensure compliance on legal and tax aspects
• Compilation of the consolidated financial statements
• Coordinate implementation of new tools

Your profile

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• Masters degree in Business or Accounting
• Strong financial controlling and planning skills
• Experience in managing a finance team
• Ability to create clarity and set direction across departments
• Experience in Cash flow management in a high growth environment
• Understanding of (international) e-commerce companies
• Experience with international entities and tax compliance (e.g. Sales Tax in the US)
• Experience with external audits from the audited company perspective
