Get-e is seeking a Head of Engineering in the Netherlands to lead 15+ engineers, align tech with business goals, and drive a high-velocity delivery culture. You will report to the CTO, shape engineering direction, and partner with product and architecture teams to deliver value.
You will manage cross-disciplinary teams (Engineering, DevOps, Data) and collaborate with external suppliers, enjoying a hybrid office-remote schedule and a bias toward practical, business-focused outcomes.
You will lead our engineering organisation: a team of leads and developers (15+) building the software that keeps our business running. You will report to the CTO and be responsible for people, delivery, and engineering culture. Getting shit done is in your DNA. You communicate the vision, bring people along with you, and are not afraid to go against the grain when something doesn't feel right-even when everyone else is heading in a different direction.
Lead, coach, and support a team of leads and developers (15+), and develop leadership capabilities within the team. Manage engineering, DevOps, and data teams, with enough technical knowledge across each domain to challenge them effectively. Foster healthy team dynamics, motivation, and collaboration, and don't shy away from confrontation when it helps move the team forward.
Build a getting-shit-done culture focused on high-velocity software development, short feedback loops, frequent releases, and momentum. Be pragmatic rather than perfectionist: deliver the solution that creates business value now and iterate from there. Keep the team focused on impact rather than unnecessary perfection. Make decisions quickly: act on the information available rather than waiting for perfect certainty.
Communicate the vision clearly and translate it into something the team can act on every day. Dare to challenge the direction when your gut tells you something isn't right, and explain why. Trust your intuition and experience, especially when navigating ambiguous situations.
Work closely with the architect and product team on scalable, maintainable solutions without over-engineering. Translate business objectives into concrete technical plans. Support backlog prioritisation and delivery planning together with the CTO and product team.
Act as the point of contact for external IT suppliers; negotiate, set up, and manage contracts. Manage day-to-day development blockers that require a business decision to move forward. Act as the bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, navigating conflicting interests effectively. Manage subsidy processes such as WBSO, including documentation, time registration, and reporting.
Drive good practices in software development, code quality, and release management where they make sense. Identify and implement process improvements. Ensure the team has the tools and frameworks they need to succeed.
At Get-e, we work according to a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. For this role, however, we expect you to be present in the office as much as possible due to the close collaboration required with the team.
