Located at the Keizersgracht, in the heart of the Nine Streets neighborhood is Amsterdam’s best kept secret: The Dylan Amsterdam. A 5-star luxury boutique hotel where we offer sincere and personal service and create memorable experiences for our guests. A historical environment with 41 unique hotel rooms, 4 private rooms for meetings & events and two restaurants: Bar Brasserie OCCO and Two Michelin star awarded Restaurant Vinkeles. The Dylan Amsterdam is looking for a motivated Head of Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all technical installations, facilities, and buildings across the assigned properties within The Dylan Hotel Group.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising all maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance of equipment, technical installations, and facilities across our hotels, office building, apartments, and landscaped outdoor areas.
  • Managing quotation and tender processes for building investments and improvement projects that contribute to the continued development of the business.
  • Coordinating and managing external contractors for technical issues, specialist repairs, and maintenance work.
  • Managing the Engineering department’s budget across the assigned hotels within The Dylan Hotel Group by monitoring material usage and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations by overseeing fire safety measures and providing colleagues with guidance on emergency procedures and first response protocols.
  • Actively participating in troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance work, and taking part in the on‑call duty roster outside regular working hours when required.
Who are you?
  • You have an MBO+/HBO level of working and thinking (vocational college or bachelor’s degree equivalent).
  • You have relevant experience in a similar position, preferably within hospitality or a comparable environment.
  • You have proven leadership experience.
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have knowledge of electrical engineering and/or plumbing.
  • You have an excellent command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
What can we offer you?
  • Travel allowance starting from 5 kilometres.

  • Workwear will be completely provided and cleaned by the hotel (for operational positions).
  • Shoe allowance of up to 100 euros gross per year based on full-time employment (for operational positions).
  • Delicious freshly prepared staff meals.
  • Discounts on insurance and gym memberships.
  • Focus on health and well‑being.
  • Extensive masterclasses where you are introduced to the expertise of various departments.
  • Training opportunities based on your development needs.
  • Dylan Experience: an overnight stay at the hotel and dinner at Bar Brasserie OCCO after successful completion of your probation period.
  • Discounts at the restaurants of The Dylan: two‑Michelin‑star Restaurant Vinkeles, Bar Brasserie OCCO, and High Wine.
  • Discount on your bar and restaurant bill at partner hotels in Amsterdam with the F&B Discount Card.
  • Staff Rate at The Leading Hotels of the World worldwide.
  • Social events.
  • Two staff parties per year.
  • Various outings with your department.
  • And many (spontaneous) get‑togethers!
