Job summary

Danone is seeking a seasoned Commodity Risk Manager to lead the global risk strategy and execution for a multi-billion euro exposure across 50+ commodities. You’ll partner with Market Intelligence, procurement, treasury and external banks, driving hedging recommendations and performance reporting in a hybrid Dutch work environment.

You’ll report to the Commodities Price Risk Management Director and manage one commodity risk manager, with a focus on IFRS9 compliance and robust risk education

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance or related field is required.
• Extensive experience in commodity risk functions and strategies.
• Fluent English, strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Ready to make an impact on Danone's global commodity risk strategy? In this role, you'll manage significant commodity exposure, develop and execute hedging strategies, partner with key teams and financial institutions, and strengthen risk management practices across the business globally.

About the Job

In this role, you will be responsible to lead the commodity risk strategy and execution for Danone.

Danone commodity exposure is several billion euros and fragmented (50+ commodities).

You will report to the Finance Director of Milk and MRM and manage one commodity risk manager - Your key missions will notably include:

Risk strategy and hedging recommendations

• Partner with Market Intelligence team to analyse market trends and analyst view
• Develop coverage recommendations to commodity risk and category teams
• Formalize hedging recommendations to be proposed to global and executive risk committees

Hedging expansion

• Identify opportunities to change supplier contract terms (indexes & lags, etc.) to increase our financial hedging capability
• Support procurement teams in changing contract terms

Hedging execution

• Manage relationships with banks and other financial counterparts
• Negotiate financial hedging offers and place them in Treasury system
• Coordinate physical hedges execution by procurement team
• Explore hedging tools beyond OTC swaps and options

Performance and reporting

• Calculate and track commodity risk exposure; build relationships and commitment with stakeholders across the business to implement new risk management policies
• Monitor commodity price coverage
• Measure hedging performance and propose actions to correct sub-optimal behaviour, if any
• Monitor compliance of our financial positions with risk management policies and with hedge accounting rules (IFRS9)
• Conduct risk education, financial derivatives usage and promotion of risk management approach across the business on an ad-hoc basis

About You

To be successful in this role, you ideally have a deep knowledge of Procurement or Trading environment, analysing global commodity markets, developing risk strategies and using financial tools to mitigate price risk. You a great networker who can build relationships with key internal (Category, Market Intelligence, Controlling, Treasury) and external stakeholders.

We will welcome an open-minded, reliable, proactive and team-oriented person. Strong communication and technical skills are required to connect to other finance teams and manage financial processes and procurement complexity.

Furthermore you will also have:

• Solid and extensive experience, with proven experience in commodity risk functions
• A Master degree in Finance or related field
• Ability to fluently communicate orally and in writing in English
