Holtara, part of the Apex Group, is seeking a Head of Advisory for Northern Europe & DACH to lead growth across the region. Based in Amstelveen, you will oversee senior client relationships and strategic initiatives across sustainability and private markets, shaping the advisory business for the next era of impact.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Growth

• Lead and grow Holtara’s advisory business across Northern Europe and DACH, with responsibility for revenue growth, client relationships and market development.
• Develop and execute the regional growth strategy, identifying priority sectors, client segments and strategic opportunities.
• Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers including Managing Partners, Investment Directors, Operating Partners, CFOs, Sustainability Leaders, Boards and Executive Committees.
• Lead strategic business development efforts, originating and converting opportunities through your network, industry presence and client relationships.
• Act as a senior ambassador for Holtara across the sustainability, private markets and financial services ecosystem.

Strategic Client Advisory

• Serve as a senior advisor to investors, financial institutions, portfolio companies and corporates on sustainability strategy, responsible investment, climate transition and long-term value creation.
• Support clients in integrating sustainability considerations into investment processes, portfolio management, business operations and corporate strategy.
• Help organisations navigate evolving regulatory requirements while identifying opportunities to create commercial and stakeholder value.
• Provide executive-level guidance on sustainability transformation, governance, reporting, sustainable finance and operational improvement initiatives.
• Act as Executive Sponsor for key client relationships and strategic engagements.
• Drive the development of differentiated advisory offerings that respond to evolving market needs.
• Work closely with Holtara.io and technology teams to develop innovative, technology-enabled solutions that enhance client outcomes and create scalable offerings.
• Identify opportunities to leverage data, digital tools and AI-enabled approaches across advisory services.
• Contribute to thought leadership, market insights and strategic positioning that strengthen Holtara’s profile in the market.
• Support the development of new solutions across sustainability strategy, value creation, sustainable finance, climate, impact and regulatory services.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Build, mentor and lead a high-performing regional advisory team.
• Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial and client-centric culture across geographies and disciplines.
• Support recruitment, career development, performance management and succession planning.
• Establish high standards for quality, professionalism and client delivery.
• Collaborate closely with global colleagues and the Global Capability Centre to effectively deploy expertise and resources.

What You Bring

Leadership Experience

• 10+ years of experience within sustainability consulting, strategy consulting, private markets, financial services or a related professional services environment.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams, growing practices or leading business units.
• Demonstrated ability to build and scale successful client-facing businesses.

Commercial Mindset

• Strong track record of winning and growing client relationships.
• Experience developing strategic accounts and generating revenue through trusted advisor relationships.
• Ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into commercially successful services.

Sustainability Expertise

• Deep understanding of sustainability topics including ESG, climate, responsible investment, sustainable finance, reporting, regulatory developments and value creation.
• Ability to connect sustainability priorities to investment performance, business strategy and operational outcomes.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders on complex sustainability challenges.

Private Markets & Financial Institutions Experience

• Strong understanding of private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, private debt or broader financial markets.
• Familiarity with the sustainability challenges and opportunities facing investors, portfolio companies and financial institutions.
• Existing network across Northern Europe and/or DACH is highly desirable.

Technology & Innovation Mindset

Practical Details

• Based in Amstelveen, with responsibility across Northern Europe and the DACH region.
• Hybrid working model with regular travel across the region and to Holtara offices as required.
• Reports directly to the Global Head of Advisory.
• Professional fluency in English required; Dutch and/or German highly advantageous.
• Advanced degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Sustainability, Engineering or a related field preferred.
