Job summary

TNO in the Netherlands invites a master’s student in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering to join a challenging internship in fragmentation modelling. You will explore how shaped, rotating fragments travel after an explosion and develop more accurate aerodynamic descriptions for trajectory simulations.

The PPAM department works on munition effects and protective materials, offering supervision, access to CFD tools, literature review, and possibly wind tunnel tests.

Qualifications

• Analytical mind for complex physical problems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with numerical simulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Model flight behaviour of fragments after an explosion and improve aerodynamic descriptions for trajectory simulations.
• Review current aerodynamic models and identify necessary refinements.
• Combine literature research, data analysis, and simulations possibly including experimental work.
