Job summary

NextNovate is seeking an ambitious Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and grow into a GCP Cloud Architect/Consultant. You will support clients and collaborate with senior Architects to maintain high-performing Google Cloud environments, learning by doing as you gain hands-on experience.

You will work on deploying cloud solutions, writing Terraform code, and pursuing Google Cloud Certification studies while contributing to architecture discussions and projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience programming or managing on-premise or cloud environments.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Clear English communication; Dutch is a plus.

• Collaborate with Cloud Architects to define and implement complex cloud infrastructures.
• Create and implement detailed implementation plans with customer teams.
• Support implementations; may take on project management tasks.

We are looking for an ambitious Engineer with a solid technical foundation and a hunger to learn to join our Infrastructure team and grow into a GCP Cloud Architect/Consultant.

The Role: Your Path to Cloud Mastery

You will start by supporting our existing clients and collaborating with our Senior Architects to maintain high-performing Google Cloud environments. This is a learning-by-doing role. While you handle support tickets and technical troubleshooting, you will be mentored by senior colleagues, gaining the hands-on experience needed to eventually lead your own projects and design complex architectures.

What does your week look like?

Your week is a mix of hands-on technical work and structured learning. You might start Monday by resolving a deployment issue for a client, followed by a sprint session where you help an Architect write Terraform code for a new landing zone. Mid-week, you’ll dedicate time to your Google Cloud Certification studies. By Friday, you’re participating in a Tech-Refinement meeting, sharing insights from the support cases you’ve handled to help improve our customers’ cloud environments.

Some of the things you are going to do

• Collaborate with Cloud Architects and our customers on the definition and implementation of complex cloud infrastructures.
• Work with customer teams to create and implement detailed implementation plans.
• Work with the customer and NextNovate team members on implementations; work can include project management tasks too.
• Provide experience, insights, and technical guidance to team members, and help build concepts and tools for our teams to further develop skills, knowledge, and speed of implementation.

What do you love?

• Act as the first line of technical expertise for client environments, troubleshooting infrastructure issues and ensuring high availability.
• Help build and manage cloud solutions using infrastructure-as-code, moving from diagrams to repeatable, version-controlled code.
• Work alongside Architects to execute detailed implementation plans for complex migrations and platform setups.
• Assist in managing machine types, database performance, and security configurations to ensure our clients get the best ROI from GCP.
• Actively work towards becoming a Professional Google Cloud Architect through our internal training and certification programs.

What you bring

• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• You have experience in programming or experience managing on-premise or cloud environments.
• You enjoy under-the-hood work—figuring out why a system isn’t performing and how to fix it permanently.
• You are a clear communicator in English; Dutch is a major plus, and you enjoy explaining technical solutions to others.
