Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam seeks a seasoned professional to bridge commodity trading and risk management. You will advise on strategic design for trading desks, while coaching client teams on how trading businesses operate and how to implement modern risk frameworks.

You will work with senior executives across industries, guiding the selection of ETRM/CTRM systems, applying analytics/AI, and shaping operating models for value creation in energy, metals, and related sectors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in commodity trading environment or related advisory focus.
• Deep knowledge of energy, metals, agriculture markets.
• Experience with price discovery, hedging, front/middle/back-office processes.

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to trading and risk expert on engagements and coach consultants on trading nuances.
• Help shape modern trading functions and optimize operating models.
• Guide clients in selecting and implementing ETRM/CTRM systems.
• Apply analytics and AI to solve complex trading challenges.
• Conduct rigorous commercial and operational due diligence on trading businesses.
• Collaborate with senior executives including Heads of Trading, CROs, and CFOs.
