Job summary

Tencent Games is seeking a highly experienced Game Design Leader to join the Game Research Center (GRC). The role requires hands‑on development across global shooter, casual competitive and RPG genres, defining the next generation of gameplay standards and providing strategic design direction for Tencent’s overseas portfolio.

The individual will work with project teams to solve critical design problems, review prototypes, and contribute to features that ensure long‑term engagement and market

Qualifications

• 10+ years of game design experience, with at least 5 years as lead designer or core systems owner on global projects.
• Experience across shooter, casual competitive, and RPG genres preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and refine minute‑to‑minute gameplay across controls, movement, feedback, visuals, audio and haptics.
• Build scalable gameplay systems: combat, character control, level interaction, progression and long‑term engagement loops.
• Lead evaluation and improvement of core gameplay pillars: 3C, combat/system design, level design and mission structure.
• Ensure systems are accessible, deeply strategic, replayable and fun over the long term.
• Provide hands‑on design consultation to teams, addressing shooter challenges and ambitious casual/RPG opportunities.
• Represent Tencent at industry events and connect with top global design talent.
