Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Rotterdam, Netherlands seeks an experienced indirect tax specialist to lead strategy, optimize processes, and drive cross-functional projects. You will act as a strategic advisor to our teams and educate them on indirect tax topics and process automation.

You will collaborate with the Global Indirect Tax lead and tax teams worldwide, implementing tax solutions in SAP S/4HANA and Vertex, and driving scalable AI initiatives to improve efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications

5-7 years of relevant professional experience in indirect tax, ideally in an international environment.
Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Law with taxation focus.
Solid understanding of EU VAT Directive and its practical application.
Willingness to own project-related tasks including indirect tax compliance optimization.
Proven ability to translate complex tax issues to non-experts and adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

Support design and execution of strategy for future indirect tax function.
Cooperate with stakeholders for global indirect tax optimization.
Collaborate with tax managers and external advisors on complex projects or global contracts.
Maximize use of technology (S4 Hana, Vertex) and explore AI opportunities.
Lead as a specialist at the intersection of tax and technology.
Share expertise to build Hitachi Energy’s indirect tax culture.
Identify cross-functional issues and coordinate with other tax streams.
