Job summary

Renesas Electronics Corp. seeks an experienced Principal EDA/CAD Engineer to lead global EDA compute infrastructure, Linux-based environments and licensing. The role spans architecture, automation and collaboration with CAD, IT/IS teams to deliver scalable, reliable and consistent platforms for semiconductor development.

You will drive project/workspace architecture, license administration and CI integration, while reducing manual tasks and enhancing observability across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in EDA/CAD infrastructure engineering for semiconductor development.
• Strong scripting and automation, preferably Python and shell.
• Experience with LSF or similar distributed compute environments.
• Experience with Perforce Helix and IPLM data management.
• Ability to work across global engineering, CAD and IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for global EDA compute infrastructure.
• Develop and support Linux-based engineering environments.
• Work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server requirements.
• Support interactive and batch compute environments.
• Contribute to infrastructure capacity planning and roadmaps.
• Develop automation to improve reliability and reduce manual administration.
• Own and evolve the engineering project/workspace architecture.
• Develop and maintain project/workspace creation and initialization mechanisms.
• Support project configuration infrastructure.
• Ensure consistent environment setup globally across projects and sites.
• Develop interfaces between project configuration, PDKs, EDA tools and workflows.
• Provide extensible mechanisms for customization while maintaining standards.
• Reduce manual intervention in project setup and lifecycle management.
• Provide technical leadership for global EDA license‑server infrastructure.
• Develop standardized approaches for license deployment and administration.
• Develop and maintain automation for license updates, validation and auditing.
• Develop robust Python, shell and other automation for CAD infrastructure.
• Maintain engineering utilities and infrastructure scripts.
• Develop automation for configuration generation, provisioning, monitoring and administration.
• Integrate CAD infrastructure with Jenkins/CI and service‑management workflows.
• Improve observability, auditability and maintainability of infrastructure services.
• Develop dashboards and metrics for engineering infrastructure.
• Monitor compute and license utilization.
• Identify capacity, performance and reliability risks.
• Work with infrastructure teams on forward capacity planning.
• Develop mechanisms to identify inefficient use of shared resources.
• Contribute to OS strategy and platform requirements for EDA environments.
• Coordinate EDA‑tool compatibility with IT/IS and migrations.
• Document scripts, configurations, dependencies and recovery procedures.
• Provide expert escalation for complex infrastructure problems.
• Train other CAD engineers and IT/IS teams to reduce dependency on individuals.
• Develop resilience and failover strategies.
• Standardize license infrastructure globally and monitor availability.
