Job summary

WLG in The Hague is seeking a data manager to maintain a large geospatial data estate on premises and in the cloud, working fully on-site with long-term opportunities.

You will organise datasets, run quality checks, and support GIS platforms while collaborating with IT colleagues. Strong ArcGIS Pro experience and English fluency are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in geospatial science or related field with 2+ years of experience, or 6+ years in the field.
• At least 2 years of geospatial data management using ESRI ArcGIS Pro
• Strong knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, metadata, and QA/QC
• Proficiency in Excel and fluent business English
• Nice-to-have: ArcPy/ArcGIS Toolbox development and tile cache prep for defence data

Responsibilities

• Organise and maintain geospatial datasets, metadata, geodatabases and spatial repositories
• Run ingestion, transformation, validation and quality checks, maintaining versions and data integrity
• Support on-premises and cloud GIS platforms, including backups and documentation
• Perform everyday spatial analysis and produce maps and standard products
• Participate in project meetings and suggest improved data workflows

Job description

Every map is only as good as the data underneath it. That data would be yours.

A multinational defence organisation in The Hague keeps a large estate of geospatial data, on its own servers and in the cloud, and a team of GIS experts who depend on it. It needs a data manager who keeps that estate clean, documented and ready to use. Fully on site, with further years of work expected after the first period.

What You Would Be Doing

• Organising and maintaining geospatial datasets, metadata, geodatabases and spatial repositories
• Running ingestion, transformation, validation and quality checks, and keeping versions and integrity under control
• Supporting the GIS platforms on premises and in the cloud - backups, documentation, obsolescence and day-to-day fixes - with the IT colleagues who run them
• Doing the everyday spatial analysis, maps and standard products the teams ask for
• Taking part in project meetings and suggesting better ways to work with the data
  
  

What you would bring

• A degree in geospatial science or a related field plus two years' experience, or around six years of progressive hands-on work in the field
• At least two years of geospatial data management and of the ESRI suite, ArcGIS Pro in particular, including mosaic datasets
• Real depth in coordinate systems, projections, metadata, vector and raster formats, and data QA/QC
• Strong Excel, good analytical and organisational habits, and fluent business English
• Nice to have: ArcPy and ArcGIS Toolbox development, tile cache creation on common tiling schemes, and experience preparing data for defence systems and standards
