Working at Boskalis is about creating new horizons and sustainable solutions. In a world where population growth, an increase of global trade, demand for (new) energy and climate change are driving forces, we challenge you to make your mark in finding innovative and relevant solutions for complex infrastructural and marine projects.

In your job you will work for the offshore energy division. Boskalis has one of the largest global fleets of specialized offshore vessels, allowing us to carry out a broad range of offshore activities. We provide innovative and sustainable all-round solutions to tackle major worldwide maritime challenges. Our Offshore Energy division supports sustainable energy solutions such as wind energy as well as traditional fossil facilities. We’re involved in the entire journey from developing and transporting to maintaining and decommissioning these facilities.

As a Geo Engineer, you will be part of the Geo Department within Global Engineering, the engineering & support department of Boskalis Offshore Energy.

In this role, you will support multiple business units across Offshore Energy, with a primary focus on our Subsea Cables activities. This business unit is responsible for the engineering, installation, and burial of subsea cables for offshore wind farms, interconnectors, and other offshore infrastructure projects. Your work will directly contribute to the global energy transition and the continued growth of renewable energy developments worldwide.

You will work in a multidisciplinary and international environment alongside specialists in geology, engineering geology, geotechnics, geophysics, geo-informatics, morphology and oceanography. Close collaboration with structural engineers, marine engineers, survey teams, tender teams and project teams is an integral part of the role.

You will provide geo-engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on tender and early project phases. Your analyses and recommendations will help identify and mitigate geohazards, optimize installation methodologies and support informed engineering decisions.

  • Supporting route engineering and cable installation studies.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing geotechnical and geophysical data.
  • Identifying geohazards and geotechnical risks and developing mitigation measures.
  • Preparing clear, concise, and high-quality technical reports and recommendations.
  • Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of geotechnical methodologies and tools.

Your qualities and experience

You are a proactive and self-driven professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You can independently perform geotechnical assessments, critically review the work of colleagues and external consultants, and translate complex technical findings into practical engineering solutions.

You continuously look for opportunities to improve processes, methodologies, and ways of working, while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality results.

You can move ahead as a Geo Engineer if you have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, geo(technical) engineering, geophysics, geosciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant geotechnical or geo-engineering experience.
  • Willingness to work offshore several times per year (typically 2-4 trips).
  • Experience with, or affinity for, GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro) and spatial data analysis.
  • Experience with, or affinity for, Python programming and data processing.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in English.
  • Availability to work from our office in Papendrecht, the Netherlands.
  • A dynamic environment: A job that allows you to collaborate with a talented team of experts from different backgrounds and contribute to making a significant impact.
  • Rewarding conditions: A competitive salary and much more, including holiday allowance, holiday entitlement of 26 days (based on a full-time contract) and a number of collective scheduled days off, a non-contributory pension scheme, collective schemes such as company health insurance and travel allowance.
