Job summary

Databricks is seeking an AI Engineer - FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) based in Amsterdam, NL. You will deliver customer-focused GenAI engagements, build and productionise first-of-the-kind AI applications, and work with cross-functional teams to shape product roadmaps.

The role requires 4+ years of experience, deep GenAI expertise (RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, fine-tuning) and production-grade deployment proficiency across AWS/Azure/GCP. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Min 4 years' experience.
• Experience building GenAI applications (RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, fine-tuning) with tools like HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy.
• Expertise deploying production-grade GenAI applications and evaluating/optimising them.
• Hands-on industry data science experience with ML/data tools (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch).
• Experience deploying ML deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel up to every 4–8 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Develop cutting-edge GenAI solutions using state-of-the-art Databricks research.
• Own production rollouts of GenAI applications for customers.
• Serve as trusted technical advisor across domains.
• Present at conferences and contribute as a thought leader.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to influence priorities and roadmap.
