Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) seeks a Galileo Lead Space Segment Engineer to drive the design, development, and validation of navigation payloads for Galileo Second Generation satellites. You will oversee ground test campaigns, in-orbit commissioning, and follow-up phases, reporting to the Satellite Payload Manager.

You will lead a team of engineers across ESA directorates, coordinating with PA, AIT, and project teams to manage schedules, risks, and budgets within a multinational environment.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in electrical engineering with four years of relevant experience is required.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with an additional four years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of payload engineering experience recommended, including navigation payloads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead specification, design, procurement, development and verification of spacecraft hardware from ITT to flight commissioning.
  • Monitor industrial progress and design evolution to ensure alignment with requirements.
  • Coordinate with PA and AIT during integration and testing activities.
  • Contribute to autonomy, operability concepts and FDIR definitions.
  • Provide regular reporting to project management and identify mitigating actions.
