Job summary

Forbion, a leading life sciences venture capital firm with offices in Naarden, is seeking a Fund Controller to take ownership of the financial operations of its investment funds. You will collaborate with Investment, Investor Relations and Legal teams to oversee capital calls, valuations and distributions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' relevant experience in fund accounting, audit or financial reporting.
• Experience with private equity, venture capital or alternative investment funds.
• Experience preparing fund financial statements and supporting audit processes.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial operations of multiple venture capital investment funds.
• Maintain fund accounting records and oversee the financial lifecycle of each fund.
• Monitor fund liquidity and oversee treasury and cash management.
• Prepare and execute capital calls and investor drawdowns.
• Coordinate investment funding and other fund cash movements.
• Calculate and process investor distributions.
• Maintain investor commitment schedules and capital accounts.
• Prepare quarterly valuations together with the Investment team.
• Prepare quarterly and annual investor reporting.
• Prepare fund financial statements and NAV calculations.
• Strong involvement in audits, tax and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with Investment, Investor Relations and Legal teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to improve fund processes, controls and reporting.

Are you an experienced Fund Controller or Fund Finance professional with a passion for private markets and fund operations? Forbion, a leading life sciences venture capital firm, is looking for a finance professional to take ownership of the financial operations of our investment funds.

The Opportunity

As Fund Controller, you will be responsible for the financial management and operational oversight of several venture capital investment funds throughout their lifecycle. Working closely with the Investment, Investor Relations and Legal teams, you will oversee all fund operations from investor closings, prepare capital calls for portfolio investments, quarterly investment valuations, investor reporting and distributions.

Unlike many investment firms, Forbion manages its fund operations largely in-house, providing you with broad exposure across the full fund lifecycle and the opportunity to take real ownership of your funds. This is a hands‑on role where accuracy, ownership and collaboration are essential.

Whilst we expect you to take ownership of your own funds over time, you will receive sufficient guidance, coaching and on-the-job training to help you develop in the role.

What you will do

• Manage the financial operations of multiple venture capital investment funds.
• Maintain complete fund accounting records and oversee the financial lifecycle of each fund.
• Monitor fund liquidity and oversee treasury and cash management.

Capital Calls & Distributions

• Prepare and execute capital calls and investor drawdowns.
• Coordinate investment funding and other fund cash movements.
• Calculate and process investor distributions.
• Maintain investor commitment schedules and capital accounts.

Valuations & Investor Reporting

• Prepare quarterly valuations together with the Investment team.
• Prepare quarterly and annual investor reporting.
• Prepare fund financial statements and NAV calculations.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

• Strong involvement in the annual fund audits and year‑end financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with fund documentation, partnership agreements and applicable regulatory reporting requirements.

Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement

• Partner closely with the Investment, Investor Relations and Legal teams throughout the investment lifecycle.
• Act as a key contact for investors and external service providers on fund-related matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve fund processes, controls and reporting as the business continues to grow.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

• 2+ years' relevant experience in fund accounting, audit or financial reporting, with the level of responsibility aligned to your experience.
• Experience gained within a Big Four or other leading accounting firm, ideally with exposure to private equity, venture capital or alternative investment funds.
• Alternatively, experience in fund accounting or fund finance within a private equity, venture capital or asset management firm.
• Experience preparing fund financial statements and supporting audit processes.
• A strong interest in fund operations and a desire to develop expertise across the full fund lifecycle, including capital calls, distributions, valuations and investor reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, hands‑on mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Fluency in English.
