Job description

What will you do as a Bridge Production Factory Worker?

At the factory in Rotterdam, they build several prefabricated bridges and lock gates every week, measuring up to 40 meters long and 7 meters wide. The factory consists of five departments:

1. Semi-Finished Goods: The first two departments produce semi-finished goods and detail them using a CNC machine.
2. Molding: In the next department, the rough shape of the bridge is assembled from semi-finished components, which are bound together using a vacuum resin infusion process.
3. Finishing: Next, the bridge moves to the fourth department where it receives a colored coating, railings, and wear surfaces (flooring) before being loaded for transport.
4. Service: The final department operates on-site, handling bridge installations, finalizing handover points, and performing repairs.

Working Hours:

• Monday through Friday
• 06:00 to 15:00
• Includes a 1-hour break

Which department will you work in?

Molding Department

In this department, you will contribute to the initial phase of the composite bridge production process. Your tasks will include:

• Wrapping foam blocks with fiberglass blankets
• Placing the wrapped blocks into the mold
• Sealing and wrapping the filled mold with vacuum foil
• Monitoring the process during the composite resin injection
• Demolding the bridge after the infusion process is complete

Finishing Department

After the bridge comes out of the mold, it undergoes further finishing. Tasks include:

• Sanding and refining the bridge surface
• Applying the required road surface/wear layer
• Assembling and mounting railings and other components
• Performing various detail and finishing tasks

Note: For work in the Finishing Department, the ability to read technical drawings is a plus.
