Job summary

Withthegrid in Utrecht is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to develop the Teleport cloud, including a public REST API, data forwarding, monitoring, and a web interface for clients to configure and manage teleports.

You will collaborate closely with our Commercial team, Head of Operations, and fellow engineers in a cross-functional setting to turn ideas into scalable, secure software that accelerates the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Technically curious with JavaScript/TypeScript skills or experience in a C-style language.
• Willingness to dive into new technologies and stay up to date.
• Customer-focused and able to translate user challenges into scalable solutions.

Our Asset Monitoring Platform (AMP) provides real-time insights into the condition of networks through IoT technology. This enables our clients to monitor their assets more efficiently, resolve faults faster, and plan maintenance more effectively.

Our Teleport team focuses on increasing flexibility in the electricity grid. With our Teleport Gateway, owners of renewable energy sources and batteries can smartly control their assets and better respond to fluctuations in supply and demand. This helps both grid operators and energy producers accelerate the energy transition.

Your position as Full-Stack Engineer

As a Full Stack Engineer in the cloud team of Withthegrid, you will focus on developing the Teleport cloud, which is the crucial link between the Teleport and our customers. It contains a public REST API, several integrations for forwarding data, monitoring for our teleport devices, and we provide the web interface that allows clients to configure and manage their own teleports directly.

Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You’ll collaborate closely with our Commercial team, Head of Operations, and fellow engineers. This cross-functional setting gives you the chance to flex your problem-solving muscles, bring your ideas to life, and contribute directly to accelerating the energy transition.

How does this role contribute to the success of the company?

• On the backend/cloud side, you ensure that messages and data from devices are scalable, reliable, and securely handled within our infrastructure.
• On the frontend, you empower our clients and team members by building intuitive tools that allow them to configure and manage teleports, improving their experience and operational efficiency.

What you’ll do

• Build new features. You’ll use a range of technologies to build them; our frontend & backend uses Typescript, Vue.js, Vuetify, Node, Kafka and Valkey. And we have an extensive range of data forwarding solutions, therefore there is always something new to learn!
• Fix bugs. You’ll prevent them as much as possible, but if they pop-up, you’ll dive into them to analyze what is going on and create fixes for them.
• Scale up existing solutions. Together with the team, you’ll research and implement architecture and software patterns, so that Teleport can scale up to several hundred thousands of devices in the field.

Who we’re looking for

• Technically curious. You have JavaScript or TypeScript skills or can program in another C-style language. You are eager to dive into new technologies and stay up to date.
• Proactive & independent. You take initiative, thrive in dynamic environments, and enjoy turning ambiguity into action.
• Customer-focused. You’re motivated to understand user challenges and translate them into smart, scalable solutions for the Teleport platform.
• Business-aware. You can spot opportunities, align solutions with real-world needs, and communicate their value. Knowledge of the energy sector is a strong plus.
• Great communicator. You’re confident in both written and spoken English (Dutch is a bonus), and comfortable working across teams and with customers.
