My client, an options market maker in Amsterdam, runs its most critical database on PostgreSQL. Traders depend on it every day, and it has never had a dedicated owner. They're looking for a senior PostgreSQL specialist who can come in quickly, review what's there and make it resilient.
This is a clear, well-scoped project of around three months on the existing on-premise setup. The main goal is to bring the recovery time down from days to hours if something goes wrong. You'll review the current landscape, reconfigure and improve it, and advise on what needs to change. Think of it as an expert consultant coming in. You don't need to lead a team or coach others; the hiring manager handles that side.
Nice to have: Redis or MongoDB. Trading experience is not required, since a strong PostgreSQL background from any industry counts.
Start as soon as possible, for about three months, with a possible short extension to hand over to a permanent hire. The rate is up to €90 per hour. The working language is English, and Dutch is fine too.
