Job summary

JetBrains is seeking a top-class ML Engineer to own our AI and ML engineering stack and shape the research agenda. You will design and implement the ML/LLM data ingestion, retrieval, and reasoning capabilities, building datasets, metrics, and pipelines, and leading the ML team in a startup-spirited environment.

You will work with LangChain, vector databases, and multi-agent systems, collaborating closely with JetBrains Research to define and advance the product-led AI strategy.

Qualifications

• Proven ML/AI Lead with 5+ years in ML/AI systems.
• 2+ years focused on LLMs and generative AI.
• Deep understanding of LLM architectures and fine-tuning.
• Hands-on with prompt engineering and LLM pipelines.
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangSmith, or similar.
• Vector databases and RAG patterns expertise.
• Deploying LLM-powered apps via APIs or open-source models.
• Strong Python skills; Kotlin knowledge a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and build ML/LLM solutions for data ingestion and reasoning.
• Create datasets, metrics, and pipelines for measurable improvements.
• Architect and improve agents for context retrieval and data alignment.
• Establish MLOps practices including orchestration and observability.
• Collaborate with engineering and JetBrains Research on strategy.
• Define hiring criteria and grow the ML team.
