Job summary

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is seeking a type-rated First Officer to operate a diverse fleet from Amsterdam. You will partner with the Captain and cabin crew to deliver safe, efficient journeys while complying with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a current type rating, 500+ hours on heavy twin aircraft, and a valid European medical. Strong CRM and flight planning skills are essential for a smooth, customer-focused operation.

Qualifications

• Current type rating (type-rated required).
• At least 500 hours on a heavy twin fixed-wing aircraft (5,700 kg or more).
• Currency: at least 150 hours of recent flying experience in commercial aviation.
• EASA Frozen ATPL(A) with valid IR, MCC, ME, and UPRT.
• Class 1 Medical.
• ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 6.

Responsibilities

• Execute all phases of flight in accordance with SOPs and regulations.
• Conduct robust flight planning, briefings, threat and error management, and debriefs.
• Manage aircraft systems and performance, optimizing safety, fuel, and time.
• Model CRM and contribute to a collaborative cockpit culture.
• Deliver a consistently safe, professional, and customer-centric operation.

The role

Operate multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft within KLM's high-performance flight operations. You will partner with the Captain and cabin crew to deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused journeys while adhering to company SOPs and all regulatory requirements.

Minimum requirements

• Current type rating (type-rated required).
• At least 500 hours on a heavy twin fixed-wing aircraft (5,700 kg or more).
• Currency: at least 150 hours of recent flying experience in commercial aviation.
• EASA Frozen ATPL(A) with valid IR, MCC, ME, and UPRT.
• Class 1 Medical.
• ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 6.

Additional requirements

• Good knowledge of Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch, you must take an exam at CEFR B2 level prior to the selection procedure.
• Valid passport.
• Minimum MBO-4 diploma in technology or HAVO diploma, both including English, mathematics and physics; or an equivalent foreign qualification.
