Job summary

Refresco in Rotterdam seeks a Financial Controller to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting while improving processes and internal controls. You will join an international Accounting team and work on month-end close, SOX controls, budgeting and automation initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and at least 3 years in a similar senior financial accounting position, with strong SAP and Excel skills and a structured, analytical mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
• At least 3 years of working experience in a comparable senior role within a financial accounting team.
• Proven knowledge and experience with SOX Controls.
• Strong understanding of SAP and Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and structured way of working.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues.
• Affinity with and understanding of AI-driven tools, data analytics and process automation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the month end closing and contributing towards timely, accurate, reliable and complete closing and reporting.
• Prepare and review complex accounting entries, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations, with a specific focus on trade margin accounting and trade-related accruals, including preparation of the monthly trade margin analysis.
• Prepare and execute complex SOX controls, including inventory, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and other key financial reporting controls, while supporting the continuous improvement of the internal control framework.
• Maintain a dotted-line reporting relationship with the Senior Specialist Procurement Accounting & Projects for trade-related accounting activities and projects.
• Support the Manager Financial Accounting in reviewing month-end deliverables, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting packages, and SOX control execution.
• Support in budgeting and forecasting activities including submissions.
• Actively identifying and implementing process enhancements and automation solutions.
• Lead and coordinate the maintenance of the financial accounting mailbox.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
• Support with external auditors to ensure accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights, ad hoc questions and support and recommendations.
