Job summary

Bertelsmann Netherlands is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial administration of one or more legal entities, delivering accurate data and insightful reporting. You will join the Shared Service Center at the Gennep Arvato site and interact with auditors, tax authorities and banks.

You will drive improvements to processes, work with SAP daily, and collaborate with a team of Business Administrators, AP/AR specialists and managers under the Manager Business Administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional working level (e.g. SPD, HEAO Accountancy).
• At least 3 years of experience in financial administration or an accounting role.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel; SAP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Dutch tax legislation and regulations; strong Dutch/English communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, including month-, quarter-, and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare and analyse management reports and statutory financial statements.
• Serve as main contact for auditors, Dutch Tax Authorities and banks.
• Ensure tax compliance under Dutch law and regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems.

As an Financial Controller at Bertelsmann Netherlands, you will work in a dynamic environment where no two entities are the same. Different structures, processes and tax‑related challenges ensure your work remains varied, challenging and rewarding.

You will be part of Bertelsmann's Shared Service Center, located at the Arvato site in Gennep, where the finance activities of multiple organisations come together.

As a Financial Controller, your responsibilities include managing the financial administration of one or more legal entities, ensuring data accuracy, providing valuable insights through reporting, and continuously improving processes.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Managing the general ledger, including reconciliations, adjustments, and month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing activities;
• Preparing and analysing management reports and statutory financial statements;
• Acting as the main point of contact for external parties such as auditors, the Dutch Tax Authorities and banks;
• Ensuring tax compliance in accordance with Dutch legislation and regulations;
• Identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing enhancements to financial processes and systems.

You will work with SAP on a daily basis, ensuring the financial administration is complete, accurate and well organised.

You will join a team of Business Administrators, AP/AR Specialists, Managers and Controllers. You will report to the Manager Business Administration and collaborate closely with colleagues across the various entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional working and thinking level (e.g. SPD, HEAO Accountancy or a comparable qualification);
• At least 3 years of experience in financial administration or an accounting role;
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and preferably SAP;
• Knowledge of Dutch tax legislation and regulations;
• Excellent command of both Dutch and English;
• Strong analytical skills with a structured and accurate way of working.
