Job summary

KARL LAGERFELD Amsterdam seeks a Finance Intern to support accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring timely processing of invoices and accurate records. You will work with Management and stakeholders to provide reliable financial information and ensure compliance.

This internship offers hands-on experience in luxury fashion finance, exposure to month-end processes, VAT handling, and collaboration with a dynamic team at our Amsterdam headquarters. Start ASAP for a 6-month, full-time period.

Qualifications

• Strong financial accounting knowledge including debit/credit, balance sheet and income statement.
• Good knowledge of VAT and tax procedures.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in accounting and administrative duties related to accounts payable processing and payments.
• Create and maintain vendor master files in line with policy and GAAP.
• Review invoices for characteristics and documentation before recording.
• Record approved invoices as directed following procedures.
• Verify invoices have documentation and authorization before payment.
• Monitor approved invoices to ensure timely payments.
• Prepare payments for approved invoices and other payments.
• Record bank transactions and reconcile bank & accounting systems daily.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and correct issues.
• Organize and maintain up-to-date financial records with proper documentation.
• Prepare and review reconciliations timely and in compliance with guidelines.
• Assist with other projects/tasks as needed.

The Role

The Finance Intern supports in providing relevant, reliable, and timely financial information to Management and other stakeholders so that they can make informed decisions and meet compliance requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in performing accounting and administrative duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions, including payments:
• Create and maintain the vendor's master files thoroughly and accurately, by the company’s policy and generally accepted accounting practices
• Review all invoices for appropriate characteristics and documentation before recording them in the system
• Record all approved invoices as directed and/or as specified by the procedures/policies of the company
• Review all invoices for appropriate characteristics, documentation, and required authorization before payment
• Keep track of all approved invoices in order to ensure that they are paid within the specified period
• Prepare payments of duly approved invoices and any other duly payments that have to be made by the company
• Record the bank transactions related to payments and ensure a daily accurate reconciliation between the bank system and the accounting system
• To reconcile vendors' statements, research, and correct discrepancies
• Organize and maintain up-to-date financial records and ensure that all transactions are backed up by adequate underlying documentation
• Prepare and review reconciliations timely, accurately, and in compliance with company guidelines and other applicable accounting standards
• Assist with other projects/tasks as needed

Profile

• Good skills in financial accounting: debit/credit, balance sheet, Income statement, month close, reporting;
• Good knowledge of VAT
• Good understanding of processes and procedures;
