Qualifications

  • 5+ years in offshore, marine and subsea design engineering.
  • Knowledge of DNV, ISO 13628, or equivalent standards.
  • Experience with OrcaFlex.
  • Strong CAD and drawing skills (SolidWorks/CATIA or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS).
  • Structured and independent work style with project-management affinity.
  • Willingness to travel abroad up to 40%.
  • Good English communication and social skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain NATO/Dutch security clearance.
  • Experience with fiber optic systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop subsea mechanical structures for seabed sensor nodes, housings, anchoring systems, and seabed deployment interfaces.
  • Perform structural analyses including static, dynamic, fatigue, and on-bottom stability under operational and environmental loads.
  • Support offshore deployments and naval operations for Barrier and Array products.
  • Define and validate material selections for subsea environments (corrosion resistance, pressure tolerance, long-term durability).
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation per offshore standards.
  • Support offshore deployment planning and execution (cable laying, anchor design, seabed interfaces).
  • Collaborate with fiber optic sensing and electronics teams to ensure compatibility with acoustic performance requirements.
  • Contribute to prototype development, lab testing, and field trials of seabed sensing hardware.
  • Interface with external suppliers, manufacturers, and certification bodies.
  • Support technical proposals and customer-facing documentation where structural design is key.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.

As a Field Subsea Engineer, you work in an international multidisciplinary team on underwater system architecture, subsea mechanical structures, subsea interfaces for long term deployments, deployment technology, and handling relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and leading field trials and deployments. You will work closely with the projects, sales and business development, and the product management teams, as well as external industrial partners and end-clients.

What You'll Do:

What are we looking for?
  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical/Naval/Civil or Marine Engineering or similar.

  • More 5+years of experience in offshore, marine, and subsea design engineering.

  • Knowledge of relevant standards (DNV, ISO 13628, or equivalent).

  • Experience working with OrcaFlex.

  • Strong technical documentation and drawing skills (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent CAD).

  • Proficiency in FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent).

  • Structured and independent way of working, affinity with project management.

  • Have flexibility in traveling abroad.

  • Good communication skills in English, with an open and social personality.

  • Eligibility to obtain NATO/Dutch security clearance.

  • Experience with fiber optic systems is a big plus.

You'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
