Job summary

SIRE LIFE SCIENCES in Leiden seeks a Facilities and Utilities Engineer to own asset strategy for pharmaceutical utilities and building assets, driving reliability and compliance across GMP operations.

You will lead improvement projects, support long-term planning, manage supplier contracts, and contribute to maintenance shutdowns, with occasional 24/7 on-call rotations and a 1-year temporary contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, installation technology, or process engineering
• Experience as a maintenance engineer (level depends on seniority)
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical utility systems (HPW, pure steam, HVAC, gas)
• Experience in regulated GMP environments
• Understanding of GMP, VCA, RCM, CE, NEN3140 standards
• Analytical, structured, and improvement-oriented approach with safety/documentation focus
• Temporary Full-Time Contract (1 year)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain asset strategies for assigned utility/building assets
• Drive continuous improvement proposals and new techniques/methodologies
• Support long-term asset planning and investment input
• Contribute to introduction of new assets and major modifications with smooth handover
• Provide support on complex maintenance problems and maintenance shutdowns
• Conduct compliance investigations and define CAPA
• Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) sessions and translate outcomes into PM plans
• Review supplier maintenance plans and manage supplier contracts as needed
• Create and optimise technical documentation and procedures
• Define, implement, and monitor asset health KPIs
• Support internal audits and ensure strong EHS/compliance
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations with the team
