Job description

Our high-tech systems are used worldwide by selected partners to create a safer world. We believe everyone has the right to safety. Our software is central to systems used in critical situations where lives are at stake.

With 80,000 talents working across 68 countries, Thales is one of the largest high-tech employers in safety and security. In the Netherlands, with 2,000 employees based in Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven, and Hengelo (HQ), we collaborate with knowledge partners, customers, and suppliers on projects such as naval radar systems, cybersecurity solutions, transportation systems, land force communication equipment, cryogenic cooling solutions, and radar research & development (in partnership with TU Delft).

Thales Netherlands is currently working on the largest project in Thales' history: the F126 project. This project marks the first major shipbuilding effort for the German Navy in 20 years, involving the construction of six new multi-role combat ships. It is the largest project in the history of Thales Netherlands and Thales Germany Naval organizations. To support this, we are expanding our solution engineering team with a System Architect.

ABOUT THE JOB

System engineering is like the ‘steering wheel’ at Thales Naval, guiding our engineering and testing teams to develop innovative solutions. Our system architects orchestrate system architectures that enable seamless future enhancements.

As a System Architect, you will collaborate with system engineers and multidisciplinary, self-organizing Agile/Scrum teams. You will act as a key communicator, bridging customer requirements, architecture of other systems, and development teams.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Understanding and analyzing customer needs
  • Supporting architecture definition to meet customer requirements
  • Aligning solutions across different systems within the F126 project
  • Defining components with specific functionalities in our modular architecture
  • Applying expert knowledge in your domain
  • Gaining deep understanding of specific domains (e.g., Gun Fire Control, Missile Fire Control, scheduling, simulations, combat management) and integrated subsystems
  • Organizing stakeholder meetings for alignment and decisions
  • Mentoring system engineers or junior architects

Thales offers career development opportunities, including progression towards principal design authority, senior expertise, or other disciplines.

Join Thales to be a vital link driving innovation and ensuring safer societies through advanced communication and solutions. Let’s achieve great things together!

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Is committed to continuous learning, both technical and human skills
  • Wants to contribute to a safe and secure society
  • Holds a Bachelor or Master degree in software engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or similar
  • Has several years of system engineering experience
  • Preferably holds Dutch nationality

What’s in it for you

  • Be part of a great team in an innovative, international high-tech organization
  • Opportunities for growth in technical, managerial, and commercial roles
