Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Leiden site is seeking a Scientist to develop, optimize, and scale-up Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) drug product processes from early to late-stage development. This role blends hands-on lab work with cross-functional collaboration to ensure robust, scalable, and GMP-ready processes.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in process development and/or LNP formulation development.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in drug product or nanoparticle development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute LNP process development studies across early and late development stages.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work including process design, optimization, and characterization.
  • Analyze and interpret data to support process understanding, optimization, and decision-making.
  • Support process characterization activities, including identification of CPPs and development of robust processes.
  • Contribute to scale-up and manufacturing readiness, including support of technology transfer to internal sites or CMOs.
  • Collaborate across Analytical Development, MSAT, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to align on process strategy.
  • Document experimental work and results in accordance with GMP and data integrity requirements.
  • Participate in troubleshooting activities and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

Qualifications
  • MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Relevant experience in process development and/or LNP formulation development
  • Strong hands-on laboratory experience in drug product or nanoparticle development
  • Understanding of process scale-up, technology transfer, and GMP principles

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with mRNA/LNP platforms or advanced therapies
  • Familiarity with process validation (e.g., LCPV) and manufacturing support
  • Exposure to late-stage development or commercial readiness activities

Job role is fixed for one year with possibility to extend #DPDS

Anticipated base pay range

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: €53,500.00 - €85,445.00

  • an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
