Edge Executives is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the MICU team in Middelburg. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based critical care to critically ill patients within a busy unit.

You will mentor colleagues, maintain quality standards, and ensure safe utilisation of ICU resources while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Previous nursing experience within an Intensive Care Unit (ICU/MICU).
• Strong clinical assessment and critical care nursing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Customer-focused with a passion for quality patient care.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and participate in the hospital call system.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Monitor, assess and manage patients within the Medical ICU.
• Administer medication in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
• Collaborate with doctors and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Advocate for patients and coordinate with case management.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection prevention and SHEQ standards.
• Manage stock and clinical resources effectively.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff where required.
• Ensure specialised ICU equipment is correctly utilised and maintained.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous professional development.
