About the role
At IKO Nippon Thompson Europe, we are looking for an Environmental Compliance & SAP Specialist who will take ownership of environmental compliance processes and support their integration into system landscapes, including SAP S/4HANA.
This role is primarily focused on ensuring compliance with European environmental regulations, while leveraging systems and tools (including SAP) to support scalable and efficient processes.
You will act as the bridge between compliance, business and IT, and collaborate closely with the IT team in Japan.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with European environmental regulations, including PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) and ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation)
- Work with government systems and reporting tools to meet regulatory requirements
- Translate environmental and regulatory requirements (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, EHS) into system-supported processes
- Support and coordinate SAP S/4HANA (On‑Premise) usage and improvements (functional role, no development required)
- Act as the liaison between business, compliance, IT teams and external partners
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance in environmental and ESG reporting
- Support testing, validation and implementation of system‑related changes
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders
- Identify and drive process improvements across compliance and reporting
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Business, Finance, IT or a related field
- Experience with environmental compliance, ESG, EHS or EU regulatory frameworks
- Experience working with systems supporting compliance or reporting (SAP S/4HANA experience is a strong plus)
- Understanding of business processes and how systems support compliance
- Experience working in an international environment and with cross‑functional teams
- Fluent in Japanese (mandatory) and English
- Based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate
Nice to have
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA (On‑Premise) in a functional or user role
- Experience with SAP EHS or sustainability‑related solutions
- Knowledge of CSRD, EU Taxonomy or ESG reporting frameworks
- Affinity with IT systems and process improvement
Impact of the role
You will play a key role in ensuring that environmental compliance is effectively implemented and embedded into daily operations. Over time, you will also contribute to the broader development and optimization of system landscapes, including SAP, within the European organization.
