Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer for its Holland, MI office. You will work on projects across solid waste, infrastructure, and environmental sectors, supporting geotechnical and civil design tasks under supervision.

The role focuses on data collection/analysis, site evaluations, and documentation, with emphasis on safety and client-focused deliverables. Travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design and construction concepts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and tools.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, GeoSlope, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
• Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
• Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites and surveys.
• Maintain quality control standards for measurements.
• Support geotechnical and civil engineering tasks related to site conditions.
• Perform routine geotechnical functions and provide entry-level technical assistance.
• Verify site characteristics and assist with environmental/design issues.
• Document work using electronic systems, drawings, and field notebooks.
• Follow safety guidelines and site procedures.
• Complete assigned training tasks.
• Adhere to company code of conduct and policies.
• Perform additional duties as needed by projects.
