Job summary

CECO Environmental Corporation is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to oversee a small team responsible for mechanical design and project coordination within the Exhaust product group. The role combines hands-on engineering with people leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Hybrid work model with regular presence at the Nunspeet office; occasional travel 0–5% nationally and internationally for customer and supplier visits and project sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and project coordination.
  • Experience in leading or mentoring engineers preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with HVAC, piping, machinery, or similar domains is an asset.
  • Proficiency in CAD and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and communication abilities.
  • Effective at managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical engineering activities across multiple projects.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Serve as liaison between Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Purchasing.
  • Track project progress, manage schedules, and report status, risks, and performance to management.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex design or implementation issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of designs, calculations, reports, specifications, and change orders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and conduct design reviews.
  • Drive standardization, design optimization, and best practices.
  • Support adoption of new tools, technologies, and engineering methods.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of engineers.
  • Plan and prioritize team workload and communicate expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support onboarding and skill development.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven team culture.
  • Identify and implement improvements in engineering processes and workflows.
  • Contribute to innovation, cost reduction and efficiency initiatives.
  • Reduce defects, rework, and engineering risks through quality improvements.

Job description

The Engineering Team Lead oversees a small engineering team responsible for mechanical design and project coordination within the Exhaust product group. The role serves as the central point of contact for engineering activities, ensuring technical quality, team performance, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This position combines hands‑on engineering expertise with people leadership, process improvement, and cross‑functional coordination. The Team Lead reports to the Director of Engineering.
