Job description

At Nebul, we’re building Europe’s sovereign AI cloud: trusted, secure, and purpose-built for the next generation of intelligent infrastructure.

Beyond infrastructure, we are investing in secure, scalable, and high-performance software systems that support mission-critical applications, distributed platforms, and modern cloud-native services.

We are looking for a Team Lead who combines strong technical understanding with clear engineering leadership: someone who can guide a team, set direction, create structure, and help engineers grow as Nebul scales.

This is a leadership role for someone who can provide technical direction, support architectural decisions, and ensure the team delivers high-quality, secure, and scalable software.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Team Lead, you will play a central role in shaping the architecture, technical direction, and structured delivery of our platform. The goal is to build software that is secure, scalable, reliable, and production-ready.

You will lead a team of engineers, helping them grow in ownership, technical maturity, delivery discipline, and decision‑making. You will create structure, set standards, and make sure the team can operate with clarity, confidence, and focus.

You will work closely with product, platform, and leadership stakeholders to ensure the team delivers robust solutions that meet both business and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, build and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their growth, delivery, and technical development.
  • Provide technical direction and help shape architectural decisions for backend and distributed systems.
  • Help the team grow in structure, ownership, collaboration, and engineering maturity.
  • Drive scalable, reliable, and maintainable software delivery across cloud-native services.
  • Support the design of services using technologies such as Go, Python, and modern backend frameworks.
  • Provide our customer-facing, stream-aligned teams with XaaS: the services and platform capabilities they need to develop their own services independently.
  • Guide the implementation of secure authentication and authorization solutions using IAM, Kerberos, OIDC, and platforms such as Keycloak.
  • Collaborate company-wide with engineers on system performance improvements, service optimization, and reliability engineering.
  • Establish and promote best practices in code quality, testing, observability, documentation, and deployment processes.
  • Facilitate code reviews, technical discussions, and structured problem‑solving.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate product and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team-building efforts to strengthen engineering capability over time.
What Your Day Will Not Look Like
  • Acting only as a delivery coordinator without technical ownership.
  • Managing people without helping them grow technically and professionally.
  • Maintaining legacy systems without opportunities to improve architecture or engineering practices.
  • Working in isolation from product, platform, or leadership stakeholders.
  • Leading without influence over technical direction and team standards.
What You Bring
  • Strong experience as a senior or lead backend/software engineer, with clear progression into technical leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams in complex technical environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of backend development using Go, Python, and modern service-oriented architectures.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native engineering, containerization, and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Practical expertise in secure system design, including authentication and access management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of scalable system design, performance optimization, and operational reliability.
  • Experience improving engineering quality through testing strategies, code review culture, documentation, and development standards.
  • A pragmatic leadership style with an ownership mindset and strong communication skills.
  • The ability to balance technical direction, mentoring, coordination, and structured delivery.
  • A genuine interest in helping people grow, not only delivering features.
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Experience leading teams in hybrid or international environments.
  • Familiarity with Go, software architecture, Kubernetes, and underlying infrastructure.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems or migrating platforms toward more scalable architectures.
  • Involvement in hiring, technical interviewing, onboarding, and team development.
  • Experience working in high-throughput or security-sensitive environments.
  • Experience building structure in a growing engineering organization.
