Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an Engineering Manager - Ubuntu Linux Kernel based in the Netherlands. You will transition from individual contribution to full-time people and project management while guiding a globally distributed team of kernel engineers across cloud, server, desktop, and IoT platforms.

You will mentor engineers, own release cycles, and drive strategy aligning engineering priorities with product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Senior engineer with leadership interest transitioning to formal management
• Strong foundation in systems software, C programming, OS concepts
• Direct Linux kernel experience valued but not required
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions
• Willingness to travel internationally twice yearly

Responsibilities

• Lead a globally distributed team of Linux kernel engineers
• Oversee kernel development, testing, maintenance, and delivery across platforms
• Shape kernel reliability, security, performance, and support
• Coordinate with hardware and cloud partners to enable new capabilities
• Own kernel release cycles and cadences
• Foster open-source culture with mentorship and accountability
