Job summary

Doghouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for a growing SaaS organization in Utrecht. The role focuses on guiding an international team of engineers through a phase of scaling, balancing hands-on technical work with leadership, and partnering with the tech lead to set direction.

You will shape the engineering organization by fostering ownership, improving delivery, and enabling autonomous, cross-functional teams in a fast-moving SaaS environment in Utrecht.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Hands-on mindset (approximately 50% management / 50% technical).

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager for a growing SaaS organization in Utrecht. The company develops an innovative SaaS platform for the real estate sector, enabling real estate professionals to digitally manage and optimize their processes. The scalable product is used daily by more than 350 customers (In private & public sectors) in the real estate industry.

The international engineering team currently consists of 11 professionals and is entering an important next phase: transitioning from one team into two, and potentially three autonomous, cross-functional teams. You will work closely with the tech lead, who owns the technical direction, while you focusing on building high-performing teams!

We are looking for someone who has successfully guided this type of change before, someone who understands the challenges, has seen what can fail, and knows how to build high performing teams. As Engineering Manager, you will help shape the future engineering organization by creating more ownership, improving delivery and enabling teams to work more autonomously.

You will focus on:

• Coaching and developing a team of 4-6 engineers.
• Improving delivery processes and collaboration with Product.
• Establishing clear ownership and effective ways of working.
• Supporting organizational change and continuous improvement.

Who we are looking for

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Experience scaling, restructuring or splitting engineering teams.
• A hands-on mindset (approximately 50% management / 50% technical).
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to connect technology, product and business.
• A background in C#/.NET and Azure is preferred. Experience with DevOps, Docker and Kubernetes is a plus, but other technical backgrounds are welcome.
