Job summary

agap2 Netherlands is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to combine technical depth with leadership to elevate our mechanical engineering organisation. You will unify experienced engineers with newer colleagues, developing a modern, scalable engineering methodology.

You will preserve valuable knowledge while driving modular, standardised design, data management and reusability across projects, collaborating with production, procurement and service teams in a Dutch SME environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Machine Building, or Industrial Engineering.
• Significant experience in mechanical engineering in custom machinery or engineered-to-order work.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, or manage engineering teams.
• Experience improving engineering processes, standards or methodologies.
• Practical experience with PDM/PLM systems and design reuse.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Pragmatic, hands-on approach in an SME environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the mechanical engineering team from technical and organisational perspectives.
• Develop and professionalise engineering processes, standards and ways of working.
• Drive the transition to modular and reusable engineering solutions.
• Identify opportunities to standardise components and practices.
• Make better use of existing engineering knowledge and product experience.
• Support implementation and optimisation of PDM/PLM systems.
• Establish a structured approach to engineering data, documentation and design reuse.
• Coach and motivate engineers through changes in methodology and culture.
• Provide technical direction and challenge engineering decisions when required.
• Bridge generations and experiences within the team.
• Work with production, work prep, purchasing, assembly and service.
• Help establish a sustainable engineering structure post-transformation.
