Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required: Current DMH Peer Support Specialist certification.
• Preferred: Previous experience providing peer support services.
• Preferred: Previous experience in a mental health crisis setting.
• Preferred: Experience with electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Teach and model recovery values and peer support.
• Model coping techniques and self-help strategies.
• Encourage peers to develop independent, autonomous behavior.
• Maintain a peer-oriented relationship, not hierarchical.
• Assist peers in creating personal wellness plans (e.g., WRAP).
• Document activities in peers' records or program records.
• Share recovery perspectives with non-peer staff.
• Assist peers in identifying recovery-supportive programs.

Education
