Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a qualified lawyer to lead regulatory legal support across EMEA, with a focus on EU/EEA. You will advise on licensing, passporting, and regulatory strategy while partnering with Compliance, Product, and Strategy teams.

You will monitor changes in European regulations, support market entry, and manage external counsel, leveraging RegTech/AI tools to enhance efficiency. English fluency and strong drafting skills are essential.

Qualifications

Qualified lawyer with 6–8 years of post-qualification experience.
Strong regulatory experience in fintech, payments, e-money, FX, remittances or card issuing.
Experience advising on regulatory submissions, filings and strategy, with EU/regulatory regulators exposure.
Fluent in English with excellent drafting and negotiation skills; multilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

Handle regulatory legal issues for EMEA with focus on EU/EEA markets and provide strategic advice to cross-functional stakeholders.
Monitor European payments and financial services regulation developments (PSD2/PSD3, EMI regimes, AML/CTF).
Collaborate with Product Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Risk and Financial Crime teams to embed regulatory requirements into product design and operations.
Support market entry and regulatory licence expansion in EMEA including licensing and passporting analysis.
Liaise with senior Airwallex stakeholders for timely regulatory advice and risk assessments.
Manage external counsel across EMEA to ensure high-quality, cost-effective support.
Leverage RegTech/AI tools to enhance team efficiency and scale.
Provide guidance on ongoing regulatory compliance and filings in EMEA.
