You area certificated Special Education Teacher with at least five years of successful teaching experience, preferably in an Elementary/Middle School, in U.S. or international schools, but hold familiarity with U.S. educational practices. You have a degree in Special Education, preferably a Master’s degree and hold a teaching certification in special education. You have demonstrated your skills in differentiated instruction, cooperative learning and standards-based instruction. You know how to implement strategies for EAL students or those with learning difficulties and have knowledge of authentic assessment techniques. You are experienced in working with diverse learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning and intellectual disabilities, and emotional/behavioral challenges. You integrate technology into your instruction and see IT as an enabler for you and for learning.

In addition you:

• have strong communication and interpersonal skills,
• show cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a multicultural environment,
• show patience, empathy, and a positive attitude,
• have a strong knowledge and practice of Individual Learning Plan (ILP) design and implementation,
• have effective classroom management and behavioral intervention techniques,
• are familiar with a range of instructional strategies and assistive technologies, and show proficiency in using educational software and tools, including learning management systems (LMS) and assistive technology devices,
• are able to maintain a program of instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students which addresses academic, interpersonal, daily living, and vocational skills,
• have experience teaching students personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy,
• manage student behavior and ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.

The Role: As the Special Education Teacher you will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and administrators to develop and implement individualized programs for students with intensive learning needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive educational environment. You will advocate for the students’ needs within the school and broader community. This role is supervised by the Student Support Director. The Work: You will provide differentiated instruction that adapts the curriculum to meet the unique academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. Collaborating with general education teachers and specialists, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, you will implement inclusive practices and address students' needs holistically. Adapting and modifying the curriculum to accommodate these needs. By utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive technologies you foster student engagement and achievement. By staying current on the best practices in special education and providing professional development to faculty, you are able to help the school community’s growth and foster greater inclusive practices.

In addition you:

• conduct school based assessments to evaluate student progress and inform instructional planning,
• maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goals,
• as needed you will participate and lead multidisciplinary team meetings to develop, review, and update ILPs,
• communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, providing meaningful insights and updates,
• will adhere to divisional and school wide procedures and expectations,
• perform other reasonable duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Student Support Director.
