Job summary

SLAM Ortho is seeking an Electrical & Firmware Engineer to lead the electrical design of our sensor unit. You will translate requirements into robust solutions, covering HW, FW, and regulatory alignment, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

You will own the electrical and firmware development for the V2 device and support the V1 system in the field, shaping the next generation of our sensor technology for fracture care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of PCB design and embedded firmware development.
• Experience in regulated medical devices (MDR, ISO 13485, IEC 60601) is a plus.
• Proven ability to take ownership and lead work with minimal supervision.
• Experience with supplier management and establishing supply chains for electronics.
• Android/Flutter/Dart experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead HW and FW design for a Class IIa medical device from schematic to layout and prototyping.
• Design BLE and antenna systems; work with RTOS and C programming.
• Perform EMC and IEC 60601 testing and ensure reliable designs.
• Write and maintain firmware for embedded systems; balance V2 development with V1 support.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage electronic components and assemblies.
• Conduct electrical and functional tests; analyze results and drive improvements.
• Create technical docs: schematics, test protocols, firmware specs, work instructions.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, Clinical teams and suppliers to meet regulatory needs.
• Set priorities and manage time across support and development activities.
• Lead electrical and firmware decisions, manage risks, and optimize costs and lead times.
• Affinity with optical design is a strong plus due to sensor fundamentals.
