Job description

As a Junior / Medior AV & IT Technician at Drift Museum Amsterdam, you help keep the systems behind the exhibitions working every day. From show control and audiovisual systems to network-connected equipment, you monitor performance and respond to faults on the museum floor.

You work closely with the System Administrator, the museum's technical team and external partners. You do not need to design the core network: the focus is on daily operation, understanding how systems connect and finding the cause when something goes wrong.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations: Perform start-up, shutdown and health checks of show control, AV and installation systems.

Monitoring: Monitor systems during public opening hours and respond promptly to faults or irregularities.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve practical IT, AV and OT issues, escalating when support from the System Administrator or partners is needed.

Staff Support: Provide practical help with devices and operational systems for museum staff.

Maintenance & Records: Carry out routine maintenance, maintain incident and configuration records and follow operating procedures.

Installation & Testing: Support testing, commissioning and improvements to installations alongside the museum team and technical partners.

Your Profile
  • Basic to good knowledge of IP networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP and DNS.
  • Familiarity with lighting and show control protocols such as DMX, sACN and Art-Net, and audio-over-IP such as Dante.
  • Affinity with professional lighting, audio, video or sensor-based installations.
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting and finding the root cause of issues.
  • Clear communication in Dutch and English, including under pressure.
  • Reliable and safety-conscious, with attention to documentation and teamwork.
What We Offer
  • A hands‑on role supporting the AV, IT and show control systems of Drift Museum Amsterdam.
  • An opportunity to develop technical skills in a multidisciplinary museum environment.
  • A contract of 40 hours per week for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
  • A salary aligned with experience and responsibilities.
  • A benefits package including holiday allowance and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaboration with the museum's technical team, Studio Drift and external partners.
